Do you know the difference between the Yorktown Battlefield & the Yorktown Victory Center?
Just like I discussed yesterday the major difference is that the Yorktown Battlefield is the real deal. While touring the battlefield, you can also include stops at the British Royal Welch Fusilier's Redoubt; the French Memorial; Yorktown National Cemetery (Civil War era); the Yorktown Victory Monument, erected in 1881 in honor of the 1781 French and American victory; and Historic Yorktown, which was fortified and defended by the British during the siege
The Yorktown Victory Center is a living history museum that gives you the opportunity to experience what life was like in hte 1700's by immersing the visitor in a replica of the colonial farm & continental army encampment. Staff are dressed as the colonist & soldiers would have been and are there to demonstrate everyday life & answer questions. There is also a traditional museum that houses original artifacts.
I have not visited the battlefield yet, but I did wander around the little "village" of Historic Yorktown. It's very quaint and would be nice on a warm day. I did visit the Victory Center and found it to be interesting. Whichever you choose to visit just remember to have fun!
