Virginia Beach Oceanfront Regulations (I did not know most of them)



Virginia Beach Oceanfront Regulations
To ensure fun-filled days and enjoyable nights, here are a few guidelines for your comfort and safety.
The following activities are prohibited on the beach, boardwalk, bike path, sidewalks, parks or grassy areas:
  • Skateboarding
  • Littering or possessing glass or alcoholic beverages (exception for permitted special events)
  • Soliciting or vending without a permit
  • Riding bikes or surreys off the bike path and connector parks
  • Operating electronic or motorized vehicles (exception for disable persons)
  • Possessing unrestrained dogs, losing control of dog, or failing to remove and properly dispose of animal waste
  • Swimming, rafting or snorkeling further than 50 yards off shore
  • Sleeping on the beach or park benches between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am

The following activities are prohibited May 1st through September 30th
from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays and from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
on weekends and holidays:
  • Playing ball and throwing aerial objects between the lifeguard stands and the ocean
  • Launching or landing personal watercraft
  • Fishing and surfing (except where authorized)

Animals are prohibited on the boardwalk, grassy areas, or the beach between Rudee Inlet and 42nd St. from 6:00 pm on the Friday prior to Memorial Day until 6:00 pm on Labor Day.

  • Public Restrooms: 2nd, 17th, 24th, and 30th Streets
  • Information Kiosks: 17th & 24th Streets
